Privacy Policy

Rap Skool is built to keep your practice private. The short version: everything you make stays on your device, we don't run accounts, and we don't track you across apps or sell your data.

What stays on your device

• Your beats, imported audio, Rhymebook notes, practice history, XP, streaks, and settings are stored only on your device (and in your personal iCloud backup if you have device backups enabled).
• We never see, upload, or read what you write or rap.

What leaves your device

• Word lookups. When you're online, the app may ask the Datamuse API for association words for a practice theme (for example, the word "midnight"). These requests contain the query word only — no account, name, or device identifier.
• Purchases. Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details.

What we don't do

• No sign-in, no email collection, no passwords.
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across apps.
• No selling or sharing of data with anyone.

Analytics

The app sends anonymized usage events (for example "a practice session ended" or "a drill was completed") to TelemetryDeck and PostHog, analytics services that never see your name, contacts, or a cross-app identifier. Events describe what feature was used — never the content of your notes, recordings, or beats, and never your words.

This website (rapskool.app) also uses PostHog to count page views and see which pages people land on. It stores a first-party cookie holding a random visitor ID. It is not used for advertising, and it is separate from anything in the app.

Microphone

Rap Skool records your voice only while recording is switched on — you start and stop it with the mic button during a practice session, after you grant microphone permission. Recordings ("takes") are stored on your device and are deleted when you delete them. A take leaves your device only when you explicitly share, post, or export it.

Profiles and sharing (optional)

• Rap Skool works fully without a profile. If you choose to claim an MC card, your username, display name, card color, rank, crew membership, an optional profile photo, and any beats or takes you choose to post become publicly visible to other users. The profile photo is optional — you never have to add one, and you can remove it at any time. That is the complete list.
• Your public profile can also be viewed on the web at rapskool.app/u/<username> (and a crew's page at rapskool.app/crews/<id>). It shows the same public data listed above and nothing more, and deleting your MC card removes the web page along with it.
• There is no email, password, or separate account: publishing uses the iCloud account already on your device, handled by Apple. We never see your Apple ID credentials.
• Public data is stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) service. Unpublishing a beat or take removes it from the public database.
• Delete everything, in the app: Profile → "Delete my MC card" removes your profile and everything you published — posted beats and takes, challenges, follows, and crew membership. You can also email privacy@rapskool.app and we'll do it for you.
• Blocking is private: your block list stays on your device.
• Report buttons appear on all public content; reported content is reviewed and removed when it breaks the rules.

Children

Rap Skool is for users 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has claimed a profile, email privacy@rapskool.app and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date.
